Oh, Detroit, what are we going to do with you? You should know by now that leaving your keys in a vehicle and leaving it running is a no-no, but you continue to do it.

This was the case Monday (3/29) when a woman's SUV was left unattended, and it began doing donuts on 8 Mile Rd. near Southfield. The woman believed that she had left the vehicle in Park, but inadvertently left it in reverse.

Jimmy Ellerbee captured a video of the out-of-control vehicle and posted it to Facebook.

According to Fox-2, WJBK-TV in Detroit, the woman was running alongside the vehicle, attempting to bring it to a stop. Another woman attempted to help but was nearly struck by the out-of-control vehicle. A passerby then attempted to help by throwing something at the driver's side window, ultimately breaking it. The woman attempted to reach through the broken window but was unable to shift the vehicle out of reverse. The man who smashed the window was eventually able to get inside the vehicle and bring it to a stop.

The station reports that the vehicle hopped the median several times and crossed all three lanes of 8-Mile before it eventually came to a stop.

Take a look at the video below.

There's a lesson to be learned from all of this. Vehicle in park. Ignition off. Keys in pocket or purse.
