Michigan seems to be a favorite: five Michigan restaurants made Midwest Living’s best food and drink experiences of 2025.

During 2025, Midwest Living did a lot of traveling across the Midwest region. Along the way, they ate and drank at numerous places. However, only a total of 18 places were good enough to be featured on this list.

Recently, Midwest Living put together this list of 18 of the best things they had eaten or drank in 2025, and five different Michigan restaurants and dishes were featured. Take a look at the list below to see what Michigan spots were featured.

Rescoldo Beets from Barda in Detroit

Barda is an Argentinian-inspired restaurant that serves up this dish that looks like a piece of art. It's slices of cooked beets (cooked using the rescoldo method, which means they cook in the ashes or embers or the fire) arranged into the shape of a rose, sprinkled with raspberry dust, and served with a side of ajoblanco dipping sauce.

Vecino uses house-made masa in their dishes. The dish highlighted by Midwest Living is a little masa pocket stuffed with carrot tinga and smothered in a rich crema.
