Winter Weather Advisory For Today
Wow, was it slick last night. We were out around 9 o'clock, drove into a lane to make a u-turn, hit the brakes and started sliding on the icy road. Thank goodness that after years of doing donuts in shopping center parking lots as a kid, I'm pretty good when it comes to driving when I lose control in these weather conditions.
You can take two things away from this. First, if the donuts in the parking lot thing is illegal, the statute of limitations has long passed...and don't forget that this is Michigan and even though we've had a pretty light Winter so far, things can change and driving conditions can, too, so be careful out there.
Speaking of the weather, the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a Winter Weather Advisory. Here's what's up:
...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO MIDNIGHT EST TONIGHT...
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 3 inches.
* WHERE...Allegan, Barry, Eaton and Ingham counties.
* WHEN...From noon today to midnight EST tonight.
* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will develop early this afternoon, and will change over to drizzle this evening. Any wet roads will freeze late tonight and likely will be slick for the Monday morning commute.
