Williamston Woman on the Hunt for Daughters Real Wedding Dress
I avoid taking my belongings to the dry cleaners for two reasons. One of them being what if it gets ruined? If I clean it and it gets ruined, I only have myself to blame. The second, what if something happens and there's some sort of mix-up and I get back someone else's belongings.
Well, one of those things unfortunately happened to a Williamston resident. Jayne Kimichik's daughter got married fall of 2018 and got her dress cleaned the following spring at a cleaner in Okemos.
Kimichik told Fox 47 that when she went to pick up the dress she didn't open the box because it looked like the right wedding dress. It wasn't until she was with her daughter that she realized the mistake.
I brought it home for several months. My daughter lives in Milwaukee, and so I wanted to transport that to her. So we took a trip to Milwaukee. She looked in the window, said mom, I don't think this is my dress.
After realizing there was a mistake, Kimichik called the cleaners only to find out that they went out of business. What are the chances? You're trying to right a wrong and life's like "Sorry about your luck."
Unsure what to do about the dress, Kimichik put the box away, She recently stumbled across it when packing because she's in the process of selling her Williamston home.
Donating or selling the dress didn't feel right, so Kimichik figured she'd give finding it's owner one last shot and posted a picture of the wedding dress on Facebook.
When in doubt, Facebook it out. Said no one ever. But hey, if you want to spread the word, it's the fastest way to get something info there.
If you took your wedding dress to a cleaner in the Okemos area in spring of 2019 and have yet to check the box to see if you received your actual wedding dress back, it wouldn't hurt to take a look!
