It's cold out. HOW COLD IS IT? It's so cold the landing gear wouldn't open on a plane the other day. At least that is how it goes down in the movies.

Well, I can't say for sure if that is the case but a plane was forced to land Saturday at Mason's Jewett Airport without it's landing gear. It happened before 1pm when a 60 year-old man brought the plane to a stop without the assistance and comfort of wheels. The fella was the only person on the plane and wasn't hurt but the plane wasn't so lucky. Damage to both propellers and some buffing out will be needed on the under belly. The Ingham County Sherriff's office said the Feds at the FAA have been alerted. Click here to see where I saw the story.

Kudos to the pilot for avoiding the big one. One of the worst sounds in the world is metal scraping on concrete or asphalt. Especially when you are helplessly directing it. I may have gone and bought a few lotto tickets or made a few bets after surviving that. If I get any more info about the story I will be sure to do an update.

The plane crash has taken so many musicians. Obviously, the day the music died with Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper. Randy Rhoads, Ronnie Van Zant, Steve and Cassie Gains of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Patsy Cline, John Denver, Otis Redding and Jim Croce all met their end in a plane crash.
