If you've been missing live events like Broadway and classical shows, I've got some good news for you. The curtain at Wharton Center will rise again this October for the 2021-2022 season.

Michael Brand, Executive Director, says they're excited to welcome new performers as well as old ones back to the stage. Brand told FOX 47 that some of the returning performers include Toa Drum Group from Japan and the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain and two news faces are a couple of Tony winners.

Two new friends are Renee Elise Goldsberry and Leslie Odom Jr. both who are the Tony winners for Hamilton.

Broadway shows that will kick off later this year include the following:

  • Hadestown - December 7-12, 2021
  • Mean Girls - March 1-6, 2021
  • Hamilton - March 29 - April 10, 2022
  • Ain't Too Proud - The Life and Times of The Temptations - June 7-12, 2022

Broadway shows aren't the only events coming to Wharton Center. Brand tells FOX 47 that they'll have new sensory-friendly shows as well.

One of the sensory-friendly productions is going to be done by a new dance company from Los Angeles called BODYTRAFFIC. They have prepared a really good show for the sensory-friendly performance.

Brand says they are currently waiting for the official okay to open from Governor Whitmer, but hope to be open their doors by summer. For a full list of events, you can visit FOX 47's website.

Those interested in purchasing tickets in advance or would like to subscribe to the 2021-2022 season, more information can be found on Wharton Center's website.
