Former Waverly Warriors and Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame pitcher John Smoltz teed off in the U.S. Senior Open golf tournament yesterday. Things didn't go as well as he would've liked in Colorado Springs. John shot an 85, with a triple bogey on the 15th.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, he said, “Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd shoot 85,” said Smoltz., who added, “I can sum it up: I made a lot of easy bogeys. A lot of par putts turned into easy bogeys."

John will tee off today at 12:51PM (2:51PM our time). You can watch the tournament on FoxSports1. Speaking of Fox Sports, they promised John the weekend off from his regular job, calling baseball games, if he can make the cut.

Hey, weirder things have happened in sports.

Good luck, John. Here's the story.
