Tigers Just Dumped $25 Million Getting Ready For Season

No battles at the arbitration tables for the Detroit Tigers this season as the team comes to terms with all nine players who were eligible for arbitration. To the tune of around $25 million all nine players have contracts now and the great thing is, everyone can now just get to work right away.

The 2021 season draws near with the first players and work-outs reporting to spring training soon. The reporting date are still TBD at the time of this writing but sometime in the month of February seems likely.

Players with more than three years of major league service but less than six years of major league service are considered arbitration-eligible players. The nine players signed and ready to report to spring training include:

Pitcher Mathew Boyd - $6.5 Million

Pitcher Daniel Norris - $3.475 Million

Pitcher Michael Fulmer - $3.1 Million

Third Basemen Jeimer Candelario - $2.85 Million

Center Fielder Jacoby Jones - $2.65 Million

Second Baseman Niko Goodrum - $2.1 Million

Pitcher Buck Farmer - $1.85 Million

Pitcher Joe Jimenez - $1.5 Million

Pitcher Jose Cisnero - $970,000

When players cannot come to terms and reach an agreement, it is at that point that the matter would go before an arbitrator sometime next month.

The Tigers spring training games start on March 1st with a game against the Astros followed by games against the Braves and split squad games against the Phillies and the Blue Jays.

The team is scheduled to open up the regular 2021 major League baseball season beginning on April 1st against the Cleveland Indians, followed immediately afterward by a three game series against the Minnesota Twins.
