No Lugnuts? No Problem — Boom Ball Hits Lansing on July 4
The Lansing Lugnuts may not be playing at Jackson Field this 4th of July, but that doesn't mean fans won't be able to catch some baseball and fireworks there anyway.
Well, not actually baseball. More like Boom Ball.
What Is Boom Ball?
Boom Ball's official website describes it as "baseball reimagined — a wild, fast, and family-friendly baseball experience that’s a take on America’s favorite pastime. It blends the best parts of baseball with world-class live entertainment for a fast, rule-bending show that proves baseball can be thrilling again."
Is Boom Ball Like the Savannah Bananas?
If you're thinking that kind of sounds like the Savannah Bananas, you're not entirely wrong. Boom Ball's creators cite the Bananas as inspiration. However, Boom Ball isn't affiliated with the Savannah Bananas or any other baseball organization or touring team.

Boom Ball is designed to be a 2-hour live sports entertainment experience. Its two co-ed teams — the Lucky Llamas and the Chaos Crew — are comprised of a mix of former collegiate and minor league players, softball players, and reality TV personalities (Big Brother, American Ninja Warrior, and others).
How Boom Ball Actually Works
Each six-inning game features multiple timed innings without regard to balls or strikes, obstacle courses for players to navigate, and an epic homerun derby finale — with plenty of live entertainment and comedy to go around. It's family-friendly and designed for all ages.
And yes, there will be fireworks too.
