This weekend we'll find out who Michigan's best tree climber is when the Michigan Tree Climbing Championship is held in Traverse City.

(I know - me, too. I didn't even know that was a thing)

According to TraverseTicker.com, the event will take place at The Village at Grand Traverse Commons, which used to be the grounds of the Traverse City State Hospital (I've wanted to go on the tour there for years - but, I digress). This is the 25th Annual Michigan Tree Climbing Championship. It's free and open to the public and it will take place this Friday and Saturday, September 13-14. Friday 3 to 6PM and Saturday 7:30AM to 6PM. Here's more info.

It looks like the main event is Saturday from 3PM until 6PM. The Michigan Tree Climbing Champion will go on to compete in the 2020 International Tree Climbing Championship (the ITCC) in Albuquerque.
