This might be the coolest summer camp in the Great Lakes
I don't know about you, but if I had the chance to sail around the Great Lakes on a schooner for a week or a week and a half - I'd jump on that deal. According to MLive.com, ,BaySail, a nonprofit organization with a 65-foot schooner, is accepting applications for its 2017 Windward Bound season. This program is open to teenagers 14 to 18 years old. It's not free, but scholarships are available to kids in some areas of Michigan. The camp voyages start on June 20th and run through August. According to Executive Director Shirley Roberts, campers will be "actively involved and engaged in every aspect of operating the vessel".
Past campers have gone on to jobs on ships and some are now studying maritime architecture and engineering in college (as a dad - I'm advising you to drop in that piece of info when you pitch this to your parents)
Have fun and don't drop your cellphone into the lake. 'Cuz if you do - it's gone.
