Art, crafts, and everything in between will be all over East Lansing this weekend for the annual Art Festival!

According to the Lansing State Journal, over "180 artists from across North America" will be at the 54th Annual East Lansing Art Festival this Saturday and Sunday. If you'd like to go, here's what to plan for...

First and foremost, this is a FREE event! It doesn't cost a thing to walk around Downtown East Lansing, appreciate the art, and people watch! Or -my absolute favorite thing- doggie watch! Some people choose to bring Fido along for the walk, and I get to reap all the cute benefits! If you'd like to take in the art and cute doggies, the festival takes place this Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm, and on Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. And trust me when I say that you'll want to give yourself some time to check it all out, because there is A LOT going on.

  • The art. Duh, what's an art festival without the art? The type of art... now that's what changes from vendor to vendor. Artists are selling lots of wares, from jewelry and clothes, to paintings and sculptures, to dishware and wood work.
  • The entertainment. There will be live music all weekend long. You can catch live "jazz, rock, pop, folk," and bluegrass concerts from the Ann Street Plaza. You'll probably notice a lot of street performers out as well, drumming or playing guitar or dancing. The after dark concerts start at 7 pm.
  • The food. In addition to the normal East Lansing businesses, there will also be food carts and tents. The food court features "international-style food" from "local restaurant vendors."

Keep in mind that with all this fun stuff going on, there will be a few streets and parking structures in Downtown East Lansing that will be completely closed. Watch the video below to see them all.
