It's always sad when a local business closes its doors, and Lansing is no stranger to that. So it was especially sad to learn that the beloved Airport Tavern And Steakhouse was going to be temporarily closing back in mid-January of 2024.
The Airport Tavern has been around since 1970, so patrons were saddened when the temporary closure was announced January 12th. Since then, the restaurant and bar have sat patrons less. But that's all about to change because it's reopening... kind of.
The Airport Tavern and Steakhouse is Reopening
Airport Tavern made the announcement via its Facebook page.
The Airport Tavern is reopening on Friday, April 19th. At this time, only the bar will be open for service. The kitchen portion is still closed at this time. There's no word on when they expect to open that backup, only that they are hopeful to do so as they get to reconnect with the community that they've served for over 50 years.

The Airport Tavern, like many other restaurants, has had a rough go the last few years. Covid changed a lot of things, including the cost of operations and the ability to get and retain staff.
If you'd like to go support your team at the Airport Tavern, the bar will be open from 4 to 9 pm on Friday, April 19th for drink service only.
