Robert Redford’s Movie Star Career Ends – In Michigan
Robert Redford has had an incredible career as a movie star, but it may have just ended with a movie filmed partially at the Cell Block 7 Museum, at the former State Prison on Cooper Street in Jackson. This weekend, what he has said is his last movie, "The Old Man & the Gun", will premiere in selected cities (they're working on getting it into theaters in Jackson)
According to MLive.com, the movie is the (mostly) true story of Forrest Tucker (a criminal - not the actor who played Sgt. O'Rourke in "F Troop"), which stars Redford as Tucker, along with Sissy Spacek, Casey Affleck and Danny Glover.. Tucker escaped from various prisons - a lot, including an escape from San Quentin when he was 59 years old. Several scenes were filmed at the Cell Block 7 Museum and some of the props from the movie are now on display.
