While the weather wasn’t quite Spring like, the plants in the MSU Horticulture Gardens Conservatory certainly did.  The 37th annual Michigan State University’s Student Horticulture Association plant show and sale took place April 12th and 13th, and the association transported guests to the Land of Oz, complete with Yellow Brick Road.

Emerald Garden of Oz was the theme and there were definitely all shades of green growing and thriving. Most of the plants were student grown on campus and included native species as well as landscaping favorites. The 70+ member organization also had other associations and clubs on the MSU campus involved in the sale for help with marketing and outreach. The teamwork was effective as pallets upon pallet of plants—and one back of an SUV full—left campus.

From the greenery to the yellow brick road, one of the other attractions during the weekend included the butterfly garden, a hands-on experience. With Lepidopterans in all stages of their life cycle, Butterflies in the Garden is something to experience at any age. Butterflies in the Garden will be open to the public through April 27th. Hours are 10am – 4pm, with free admission, although the exhibit will be closed on Easter Sunday. If you can’t make it in person, you can visit virtually.

15 Reasons Why Spring Is Genuinely Michigan's Worst Season

Case and point; Spring is the absolute worst season in Michigan. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely some redeeming factors like the fact that plant life starts to bloom again and that we finally start to see warmer weather after a frigid winter. But that doesn't change the fact that spring is the worst season in Michigan, and we have the receipts to prove it. Take a look at the list below for 15 reasons why spring is just the worst.
