Michigan’s own Erik Jones driving the #20 JGR car next year
According to NASCAR.com, Byron, Michigan's Erik Jones has just been proven to be one of the rising stars of NASCAR by being picked by Joe Gibbs Racing to take over as driver of the #20 car next season. Matt Kenseth will not return to JGR next year and will be moving on. Exactly where he'll land next season isn't known as of right now. But, according to Dale Earnhardt Jr, “Matt is going to have a job. I don’t think he’s got to worry about that."
Erik is currently driving the #77 for Furniture Row Racing in his first full year in the Monster Energy series. So far he has five top-10 finishes in the first 18 races. He was the truck series champion in 2015 and has eight wins in the Xfinity series, where he already drives the #20 for JGR.
