Two Michigan Hotels Could Beat California for Best Wine Country Hotel
California, you'd better watch your back, because Michigan is looking to take your title of "wine country". USA Today is putting together another '10Best' list, this time for the best wine country hotels. And not one, but TWO Michigan hotels are contenders for the top ten.
Michigan Hotels Named Among USA Today’s Top Wine Country Contenders
Currently, USA Today experts have narrowed the list down to the top 20. Now, voting is open for people to voice their opinions. Now, readers are being asked to choose the hotels that give wine country goers the best experience, from accommodations and food, to customer service and more.
Among the top 20 hotels contending for the top spots, Michigan has two representatives on the list: Chateau Chantal in Traverse City and Inn at Black Star Farms in Suttons Bay.
Now, you might be saying, hold your horses... California has nothing to be worried about. And you might be correct in saying that, as California does make up 14 of the 20 nominations.
Michigan Has a History of Winning This Wine Country Contest
However, it was Inn at Black Star Farms and Chateau Chantal that won the first and second spots respectively, on the 2025 list. Chateau Chantal won the number one spot in 2024, and Inn at Black Star Farms took the number three spot. They also came in the top four on the 2023 list... I think you can sense a pattern here...
Nothing is official until voting concludes on Monday, July 20, but it seems like Michigan's two nominees have a pretty good chance of taking the top spots, let alone securing a spot on the '10Best' list. Cheers to a Pure Michigan win again this year!
