Michigan Unemployment Web Site Crashes – Sets Filing Schedule
Monday morning, the Michigan online unemployment filing system crashed. It's no wonder. During a "normal" month, Michigan averages about 5,000 unemployment claims a week. The total for the last three weeks has been about 820,000.
Today, the state started taking claims from low-wage and self-employed workers and according to the Detroit News, the system couldn't handle the load. The state is encouraging filers to use their schedule and off times to ease up the load on the system.
