Michigan State Lays An Egg; Tournament Seed in Doubt
For the first five minutes or so, the Spartans were playing well, but that didn't last long. Their shooting went cold, and stayed cold, and they were down by 4 at the half. Then Maryland started hitting their shots and that was all you could say.
Malik Hall led the Spartans with 19 points. Eric Ayala had 21 for the Terrapins and Aaron Wiggins chipped in 19.
So, now what? State has been in post season play since the late 1980's. In other words, for a long long time. Reports are there will be an NIT tournament, but limited to 16 teams, so should today's loss keep Michigan State out the big tournament, that's probably a realistic option.
But the tournament selection committee is part of a coaching and administration fraternity. Coaches like Tom Izzo and Mike Krzyzewski have a lot of friend in the business
Another thought, this year is such an anomaly. When people look back on 2021, a lot of them will just write off what happened, much like a year ago, when the tournament was cancelled.
Just remember to sign up for the Million Dollar Bracket challenge.
If you predict all the winners correctly, that's a million dollard cash prize. Get a fair amount of them right and they're smaller prizes. Good Luck.
