After being stuck inside all spring, looks like almost everyone in Michigan found some way to get outside this summer. The state parks and campgrounds have had record attendance. Only problem? Lots of people means lots of trash.

According to BridgeMi.com, in July, Sleeping Bear Dunes saw almost a 20% increase in crowds compared to last July. Tahquamenon Falls State Park had a big jump in July, as did Pictured Rocks and the state campgrounds. Of course, when people see full campgrounds and no parking, sometimes they've just set up their own campsite or off-road it to find parking. Which is HIGHLY discouraged by the DNR and the National Park Service.

And then there's the increase in trash - of all sorts.

Everyone in charge says your best bet is to plan ahead. Usually September is a great time to enjoy all the parks in Michigan due to everyone going back to school. But of course, this year - who knows how that will play out.
