If you're thinking about getting one of those Michigan license plates with the loon on them - better do it quick. According to WXYZ.com, the loon plates will be going away on December 1st, to be replaced by plates featuring a bull elk. The new plates will still be a way to donate money to protect wildlife habitat. The reason for the change? To celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the re-introduction of elk into Michigan.

I, for one, welcome the mighty elk to our state's bumpers.
