According to WILX, the state is looking for volunteer lighthouse keepers for the Tawas Point Lighthouse in northern Michigan. The volunteer positions are for extended stays--meaning at least for two weeks--and preference will be given for those volunteers that can stay even longer.

If you're selected as a lighthouse keeper, here's what you'll be required to do:

  • Greet visitors
  • Give tours
  • Perform light maintenance duties.

Since this is a volunteer position, you won't be getting paid. However, you will be able to live on the second story of the lighthouse and that area includes two bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom (thank goodness).

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in doing, then click here for the volunteer application. Good luck!
