If you've lived in Michigan for anytime at all, you've probably been to, or at least seen, a few lighthouses up close. And while many are inactive, they're certainly one of the cool things about living near the Great Lakes. Which brings us to....

The Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival in 2020 will celebrate the 150th birthday of an icon. This year the star of the show is the Mission Point Lighthouse, located on "the Peninsula", at the end of M-37, in Traverse City. The celebration will be August 7th and 8th.

According to MLive.com, Mission Point Lighthouse began operations in September 1870 and was decommissioned in 1933. These days it's staffed by volunteers who run the museum and gift shop - and I'm sure it still sees it's fair share of summer weddings (you can't reserve the area - and you have to keep your group small).

During the Lighthouse Festival, there will be ticketed events with food, drinks  and entertainment.
