Michigan Homeowner Watches on Live Stream as Thief Breaks Into His Home

A Northern Michigan homeowner watched on his security camera as a thief broke into his house and stole several items.

Troopers at the Alpena post of the Michigan State Police fielded the call from the homeowner who lives downstate. He had installed a cellular video surveillance system at his hunting camp residence in the Ossineke area. Ossineke is about 12 miles south of Alpena along U.S. 23.

Robbery in Progress

The homeowner called police after he saw the masked man break into his home. The robbery was still in progress, and the man watched as the thief stole several items from the home - including the video camera.

A trooper was immediately dispatched and caught the thief red-handed. Donald Jordan Williams of Detroit was leaving the residence via the back door when the trooper arrived. He was caught carrying several items he had lifted from the house.

According to WDIV-TV, the trooper ordered Williams to stop and get on the ground. The thief complied and he was taken into custody. Police say the stolen property was recovered and returned to the homeowner.

Not His First Rodeo

This was not the first time Williams has been charged with breaking and entering. He had been on parole since July of last year on home invasion charges.

Williams was arraigned at the 88th District Court, charged with one count of second-degree home invasion and one count of larceny from a building.

WDIV reports that the man is currently being held at the Alpena County jail awaiting his next hearing on April 19.
