Best Time to see Waterfalls at Michigan’s Pictured Rocks in U.P.
Spring time is the perfect time to check out 17 waterfalls found in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore area. This is such a beautiful area of our state and worth the long drive to get there.
If we break down the entire Upper Peninsula, there are around 300 waterfalls ranging from under 5 feet to over 48 feet vertical drops.
So if you want waterfalls, there's plenty to see in the Upper Peninsula. We would highly recommend seeing the 17 waterfalls at Michigan's Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
According to mlive.com:
Another tip for trip planning: The area's 17 waterfalls vary in their accessibility, with some visible from main roads and others requiring more effort, such as hiking or driving to remote locations. That variability means there are plenty of options for different experiences (though you might want to plot out your must see waterfalls in advance).
The last time I took my family to the Upper Peninsula, we spent two or three days looking at so many waterfalls.
You can actually pick up a map in the Upper Peninsula giving you all the information you need to find the best waterfalls. We found many of them and took lots of pictures.
And right now, spring is the best time to visit Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore to see the areas many waterfalls at their peak.
Speaking of waterfalls, mlive.com adds:
For easy, walkable waterfalls, Cearley recommends Munising Falls and Wagner Falls, which are both just a short distance from parking lots on flat, well marked paths.
By the way, Scott Falls is another waterfall you can check out and you don't even have to leave your car.
Munising.org can help you out with a map and descriptions of the areas waterfalls.
