Attention space nerds: get ready for the Hunter's Moon, the full moon coming this Sunday night. The full moon will rise out of the pumpkin patch to the east (much like the Great Pumpkin) at 7:22 PM here in the Lansing area. While it's low on the horizon, the moon should appear huge - and probably some cool shade of red or orange. Hopefully the weather cooperates. The weather may be cloudy early but should clear up later on.

Not only are we getting a big full moon, but, according to WMUR.com, the Draconid meteor shower will peak tonight with the Southern Taurid meteor shower peaking tomorrow night. The great thing about these two meteor showers are the big fireballs they produce. And the meteors show up early in the evening. Again - let's hope the clouds hold off until later tonight.
