Michigan Beers Take Medals at the Great American Beer Festival
Yeah, I like beer. But, some of my friends LOVE beer. Especially Michigan beer. I have friends who travel the state and sample beer at breweries every weekend. And with new breweries popping up all the time in Michigan - I'm gonna have to get on board at some point, or keep getting shamed about my beer.
If you're like me - you might be interested in the results of the judging in the Great American Beer Festival, which took place last weekend in Denver. Never forget - education is the key to hipness and impressing your friends, when it comes to craft beer. Or we could just keep drinking the cheap stuff and make up snappy comebacks when we get insulted.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Michigan did OK. 9 beers from Michigan came home with medals. Taking a gold medal home was West Coast Swing Amber from The Mitten Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids. They took the gold in the "American-style Amber/Red Ale" category.
Eight other beers metaled including beers from the people at Bell's in Kalamazoo and Founders Brewing in Grand Rapids.
