Man In Michigan-Caught With 51 Turtles In His Pants-May Face Prison Time

We first told you about this story back in December of 2015. If you missed it, here's a quick recap...

According to the Detroit Free Press, a man from Canada was trying to smuggle some turtles into Michigan and taped 51 of them to his body. He reportedly ordered the turtles online and would travel to the U.S. to ship them to China or return with them to Canada. So, that's the recap, here's the update..

Prosecutors in Michigan are now seeking a five-year prison sentence for the turtle smuggler. Kai Xu, from Canada, says he smuggled more than 1,000 turtles to China to help pay for his college education. He says his crime was a "shameful" effort to relieve some of the financial burden on his parents. Global News has more on the story, you can check it out by clicking here.
