Little Big Town Get Emotional When Scotland Crowd Starts Chanting ‘USA’ [Watch]
Little Big Town received the most heartwarming reception during a show in Scotland following the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting attack in Las Vegas.
The group was performing at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall in Scotland on Monday (Oct. 2) when the crowd burst into a spirited chant of "USA," with some fans even raising an American flag in the background. Overwhelmed by the crowd's kindness, Phillip Sweet can be seen wiping away tears in a video the band posted to Facebook.
"Thank you so much," Kimberly Schlapman says to the audience, her voice shaking with emotion. "It takes a whole lot of people to put on our shows, and I had a whole lot of friends in Las Vegas last night ... so we are holding them so close to our hearts and we are here to do what country music does, and that is love."
Jake Owen, Chris Young Describe the Shooting
The crowd erupted in enthusiastic applause in support of Schlapman's passionate message. "Wish you could feel the love from Scotland last night. It was powerful and emotional and we’re gonna do everything we can to spread it around," the "Boondocks" singers write in the caption alongside the powerful video.
A gunman opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino during Jason Aldean's headlining set at the festival in Las Vegas on Sunday night (Oct. 1). Some 22,000 people were in attendance, with 58 losing their lives in the tragedy and hundreds more suffering injuries. Aldean has spoken out since the horrifying events and has canceled tour dates until Oct. 12:
"I feel like out of respect for the victims, their families and our fans, it is the right thing to do," the star says in a statement. "It has been an emotional time for everyone involved this week, so we plan to take some time to mourn the ones we have lost and be close with our family and friends."
