Let’s Show Some Love And Recognize Our Michigan EMS Crews
It's Not Like It Looks On TV
Have you ever had to dial 9-1-1 for a medical emergency?
Have you ever been in the back of an ambulance? And not for a tour. I mean laid out on a gurney. Loaded in the back. Maybe strapped in? Actually receiving emergency services?
Sure you've seen it on tv but have you ever really experienced it?
Then wheeled into the hospital THOUGH THOSE DOORS?
Once was enough for me. I was lucky enough and blessed enough that a cut on my neck missed my jugular by less than an inch.
In the back of the ambulance I had a guy making sure I was safe, calm, breathing, and most importantly not bleeding out and dying.
The guy that worked on me in the back of the ambulance and the guy driving helped to save my life that day.
And they do that EVERYDAY!
Several time a day!
Michigan EMS By The Numbers
Michigan is home to 28,820 EMS providers, 812 life support agencies and more than 3,867 licensed life support vehicles, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Bureau of EMS, Trauma and Preparedness. (WILX)
Brave men and women on the frontline who show up to God knows what incident and not only save lives but sometimes put their lives at risk to do so.
Here in Michigan, the Governor thought it was high time we recognized them.
Especially now as we're rounding the corner with the pandemic.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has declared May 16-22 as Michigan EMS Recognition Week. This is to honor the emergency medical service personnel on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. (WILX)
A great big heartfelt thank you to these heroes who come to the rescue and save lives on the daily. And find a way to carry on when they've done all they can and sometimes come up short. That can't be easy to do. But they do.
From the bottom of our hearts we just want to say thank you, we honor you, and we appreciate you.
God bless our our Michigan EMS personnel.
