Roller derby - like pro wrestling, is a sport that's been around for decades, was a fixture on TV for years and has been the subject of hit movies. (My favorites were the original "Rollerball" and "Kansas City Bomber") And then - what happened? Wrestling flourished on TV and roller derby disappeared.

That MAY be about to change.

On November 8th, ESPN 3 will be broadcasting the 2015 WFTDA (World Flat Track Derby Assn.) Championship. The only WFTDA league team in this area are the Lansing Derby Vixens who have their home rink at The Summit in Dimondale.

And while ESPN 3 is only an online platform, if this championship gets enough viewers, it's only a matter of time until you'll be watching roller derby (and hopefully, the Vixens) on one of the bigger on-air networks.
