What started as a hobby for these three teens, has turned in a way to help essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

MLive reports, the three 15-year-old triplets, Karson, Landon and Mason Schroeder pooled together their Christmas money to buy a 3D printer that they are now using to make mask adapters to help people around the country.

The adapters these three Northwest High School students are creating work to remove the tension mask straps cause around the ears for those who wear masks for hours at a time in the fight against COVID-19.

The Schroeders say they have printed about 500 adapters so far, many going to areas like Jackson and Detroit but also to medical workers, mental health professionals, office workers and any other essential workers around the country.

Each adapter costs the boys about 10 cents each to make and have received about $250 in donations which they say is going towards their step with the highest cost, shipping.

With orders going out to places like Ohio, Alabama, Arizona, Iowa and Massachusetts, social media and word-of-mouth has helped their product reach the masses.

Erica Shroeder, the triplets' mother, said, “They came up with these ideas on their own and just kind of brought this to my husband and me. I'm just really excited to see the things that they can do. I'm amazed at the progress and stuff that they're coming up with.”

Karson said they want to help as many people as they can and any questions can be directed to kls.3dprinting@gmail.com.
