It’s National Tree Check Month & Here’s A Bug You DON’T Want To See
I had NO IDEA that August was 'National Tree Check Month'! If you've got a few minutes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture would like you to check your trees for an invasive beetle called the Asian Long-horned beetle. They tend to like maple trees the best and can do A LOT of damage to your tree.
Here's what the Asian Long-horned beetle looks like and the holes it puts in trees:
If you see marks on your tree like this or see an actual Asian Long-horned beetle, please contact the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, MDA-Info@michigan.gov or call the MDARD Customer Service Center, 800-292-3939.
And if you'd like to learn more, here's a bunch more information about the Asian Long-horned beetle.
