Hyperloop Transportation Technologies wants to investigate the possibility of building a Great Lakes Hyperloop system, which would run from Cleveland to Chicago, with a stop in Detroit. Hyperloop technology is much like the pneumatic tubes used at your bank drive thru. According to MLive.com, as may as 40 passengers will be in a capsule, which will be levitated by electromagnets and hurtle along at 760 MPH in a steel tube. Hyperloop Transportation Technologies is just one of many companies developing this technology. Elon Musk, of SpaceX and Tesla car fame, has his own company called Hyperloop One.

No word on how long the trip would be from Detroit to Chicago. Obviously, you'll just need to hop on in Detroit, like some old hobo on a freight train.
