How’d I Miss This? Michigan Family on “Counting Cars”
So, I'm minding my own business, watching reruns of History's "Counting Cars" on my Tivo (I'm a HUGE fan), when what pops up, but a family from Michigan! And they're surprising their mom and dad with a tricked out 1953 Chevy pickup. Nice.
(I did some checking online and according to the Cadillac News, this episode originally aired on my birthday in July, so I was deep into "Birthday Week 2018" and celebrating wildly, I'm sure.)
The family featured that night were the Ebels, who own Ebels' General Store in Falmouth, MI (between Cadillac and Houghton Lake) Their sons Tom and Bob contacted Danny and the crew from Count's Kustoms and made it all happen. On the show, you get the feeling this all happens in a matter of weeks, but the article says the boys contacted Danny sometime in 2016 and the truck wasn't finished until last March. (Business must be good at Ebels', because the boys gave Danny a budget of between $80,000 and $100,000 for the build.)
Good episode. And they apparently gave the shop a bunch of beef jerky, so - win, win for everybody.
