Here’s What’s Going On This Week For MSU’s Homecoming
Make sure your Green & White is ready to go, because Michigan State University's Homecoming is this Saturday!
With Homecoming this Saturday, that means there are all kinds of events and activities this week to celebrate! So whether you're a student, an alumni, or just an MSU fan; here's what's going on this week for MSU's Homecoming!
- All week long, Spartans are encouraged to "Glow Green" and show their MSU pride. You can glow green by swapping out your usual front porch light (or any light for that matter) with a green bulb. That way no matter where you are, people know you're a Spartan!
- Tuesday, October 2nd the UAB presents "Sounds of Homecoming & Open Mic Night". From 7 - 10 pm on Tuesday, MSU's a cappella groups will gather at the Beaumont Tower Courtyard to entertain with song. And if you'd like, feel free to participate by grabbing the mic and "express yourself through song or spoken word".
- Wednesday night, the UAB is hosting a craft night! MSU students are welcome to stop by the MSU Union building from 7 - 10 pm and personalize a homecoming banner, while supplies last. Just make sure you've got your student ID!
- Thursday evening is filled with events, starting with a film screening of "The Road to Little Rock", a film about nine African-American students who wanted to enroll in an all-white school in Little Rock and faced road blocks despite Brown v Board of Education declaring that segregation in public schools to be unconstitutional. The screening is followed by a Q & A with one of the "Little Rock Nine", Ernest Green. Get more info here.
- Friday has a slew of events going on... Brunch at the Spartan Statue from 10 am to 1 pm, create a "Gratitude Rock" from 10 am to 2 pm at the demonstration hall field, there's an ice cream social from 4:30 to 6 pm at Eustace-Cole Hall, and --of course-- the MSU Homecoming Parade! The parade steps off Abbot Road and starts making its way to Grand Ricer at 6 pm.
