Henry Ford Allegiance To Start Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing
The Jackson-based health system has started the drive-through testing as Coronavirus spreads across the nation.
According to MLive, as of Saturday, March 14th, there are 33 confirmed cases in Michigan, 1,629 cases across 47 of the United States and 41 deaths so far, though none in Michigan.
As concern grows, Henry Ford Allegiance Health is making testing accessible with a testing site at the surface lot of 100 E. Michigan Ave in Downtown Jackson.
To limit the amount of people getting unnecessarily tested, screening questions will be used to determine if a person is at risk.
Questions include symptoms such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath and if the person has been travelling or in contact with someone with the virus.
Once a test is deemed necesssary, the person will remain in their vehicle as prepared hospital staff do a nose swab and sends it to an outpatient lab where results will be ready in four-to-five days.
The hours available for testing, starting Monday, will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. until further notice.
