If you've been waiting for some rain to water that dry lawn you've got, you're in luck because some rain is on the way. However, according to the National Weather Service, some areas are not just getting rain...they're getting heavy rain. The NWS says that a band of heavy rain in excess of two inches is possible tonight. At this point it looks the heavier amounts of rain will be south of I-96. Localized areal flooding is a concern as well as rises in rivers and streams. With the heavy rain, there's also a slight risk of severe thunderstorms for the Lansing area tonight as well. The National Weather Service says that the main threat with the Monday night thunderstorms will be some gusty winds in excess of 50 mph.
