Former Michigander Jeff Lowe Closes Tiger King Zoo
The zoo made famous in the "Tiger King" show on Netflix is now closed. Permanently. Former Lansing and St. Johns resident Jeff Lowe, who now owns the zoo, says he shut it down voluntarily, however, the USDA says they suspended his exhibitors license for numerous violations.
According to People, this move comes two months after a judge awarded park ownership to Carole Baskin - arch enemy of the Tiger King - Joe Exotic. And even though Carole offered to find new homes for the zoo's animals, they still belong to Jeff,
Rest assured that all the animals will continue to have excellent care, and consequently will no longer be subject to USDA inspections or PETA spies.
In fact, they'll be going to Jeff's NEW zoo, Tiger King Park, which will open in Thackerville, Oklahoma, in September, where Lowe will be filming a new reality series with his wife Lauren.
And let's not forget - there are still plans to film at least two movies about Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin, once filming can start back up during the pandemic - which started with everyone watching "Tiger King" on Netflix.
That seems like such a long time ago.
