Former DeWitt Football Player Signs With NFL Team

Ryan Anderson was pretty busy as a senior at DeWitt High School. He played as both a receiver AND a punter, with 80 receptions and 52 punts. He went on to play college football at Saginaw Valley for two seasons and then transferred to Olivet. At Olivet he was a two time All-American, setting a Division III record for yards per punt average. And then he transferred and played for Rutgers in the Big Ten. According to DeWittFootball.org, he was All Big-10 First Team as a punter there.

But he didn't get drafted by the NFL.

According to NJ.com, Ryan went on to get a tryout with the Patriots and was on the Birmingham Iron team in the now defunct AAF league. But he didn't give up.

Good news - he's finally getting his shot in the NFL. The New York Giants just signed Ryan to a free agent deal after he tried out at their rookie mini-camp this last weekend.
