The Michigan DNR has published their final report for the 2014 Michigan deer harvest. Here are some of the highlights:

664,762 people bought a license to hunt deer last year, but only 614,593 actually went deer hunting. Which means about 7.5% decided to stay in their nice warm bed. I can't say that I totally blame them - but EVERY day during deer season?

The number of people hunting deer last year in Michigan decreased by about 7% from 2013, but there were more younger hunters purchasing deer licenses, so that's good news for the future.

The total deer harvest was about 329,000 deer - down 15% from 2013. Around 41% of hunters took at least one deer. So, I guess I wasn't the only one crying in my beer on the last day.
