There’s No Way This Is Michigan’s Favorite Chicken

You can't believe everything you see on Facebook.

More than one million people follow the Terrible Maps page on Facebook, and there's a recent one that honestly is just that - terrible.

The map in question purports to show the "Most Popular Fried Chicken in Every State".

Pretty sure they're just making stuff up.

Michigan's Favorite Fried Chicken Can't Be From This Place

Terrible Maps suggests that Michigan's most popular fried chicken is Church's.

Who?

Yeah, Church's. The restaurant chain has a grand total of 12 locations in Michigan - 8 in Detroit, and one each in Clinton Township, Flint, Highland Park and Warren. Most of the state has never even heard of it, so how in the world can it be "Michigan's most popular"?

12 locations. That's it.

Compare that to 164 for KFC, and 75 for Popeye's. A case could be made for either of those establishments to be Michigan's most popular fried chicken restaurant, but come on. It's not Church's. At least not in Michigan.

Church's Chicken Should Expand Further Throughout Michigan

Don't get me wrong. I've had Church's Chicken (re-branded in recent years as Church's Texas Chicken), and it's some tasty stuff. It's juicy; it's got a great flavor and a good crunch, and I - for one - would welcome its further expansion throughout the Mitten State.
