As we told you on this website earlier, the Soap Box Derby will return to St. Johns on Father's Day, Sunday, June 16th. This after an absence that was actually multiple decades.

And from the looks of the derby cars that I saw at the practice last Saturday, the race is coming back big. Many families have gone the extra mile to deck out their derby cars and some have even gotten local sponsors for their cars and those cars are sporting those sponsorship logos.

Before the Soap Box Derby races ended in St. Johns, it was one of the largest races held of its kind in the United States. Now that it is back people are excited about it and race officials are expecting a good turn out for the races this Sunday.

The boys and girls who will be competing will be doing so to qualify for the National Soap Box Derby race in Akron, Ohio. The Soap Box Derby in St. Johns will take place on Clinton Avenue. Get more info about the Soap Box Derby here.
