WILX.com reports that The City of East Lansing will extend their State of Emergency through April 30, 2020.

Mayor Ruth Beier announced the extension Friday, and said additional extensions may be necessary, upon approval of the East Lansing City Council.

The extension will keep public facilities closed until Friday, May 1, 2020 at the earliest. It was also announced that the 2020 East Lansing Art Festival has been canceled. Additionally, the city will not open the East Lansing Aquatic Center in 2020. Playground equipment, outdoor sports courts, pavilions, shelters, and bathrooms in parks will stay closed through May 31, 2020, as will the Northern Tail Dog Park.

All regularly scheduled City meetings and events are canceled for the duration of the State of Emergency. East Lansing City Hall, 54-B District Court, Hannah Community Center, East Lansing Public Library, and the East Lansing Department of Public Works facilities all remain closed.
