Beloved East Lansing Bakery Is Closing, But There’s a Silver Lining
The Greater Lansing food scene is changing once again as another business decides to shut its doors.
It is a bittersweet ending for Make It Sweet in East Lansing, as this family-owned bakery and cafe announces it will close at the end of the month.
Why Is Make It Sweet Closing in East Lansing?
Make It Sweet is so thankful and grateful for all its amazing customers over the six years it has been open. In fact, they still have a very strong customer base, and this decision is not one being made in response to a lack of business.

Instead, the owners have decided to take this step back with the bakery so that they may spend more time with their young children and have more family time together.
However, this isn't truly goodbye. It seems more like, "see you later," because the Make It Sweet owners said this isn't really the end for the bakery:
It's important to note, however, that this is not a forever goodbye. Our plan is to bring back Make It Sweet in different capacity, likely in the form of a pop-up event, at some point. We'll announce and share updates with you, so please continue to follow us to stay informed. And our other concept, @toaste.cafe, isn’t going anywhere, so please come by to see us down the street as well!
When Is Make It Sweet's Last Day?
So, Make It Sweet will be closing its brick-and-mortar location at 2650 East Grand River Avenue in East Lansing. The last day to visit, get yourself something sweet, and say goodbye will be Saturday, October 31. If you're sad at the news of Make It Sweet closing, you should make plans to visit before then.

Fortunately, you can still get your cafe fix nearby. While Make It Sweet is closing, the owners' other venture, TOASTE, will remain open.
TOASTE Cafe Will Remain Open in East Lansing
TOASTE is located in the Brookfield Plaza at the corner of Grand River and Hagadorn in East Lansing. The family-owned cafe specializes in handcrafted sandwiches, desserts, specialty beverages, and Taiwanese signature honey toast.
