East Lansing Citizens’ Police Academy Is Taking Applications
The City of East Lansing announced earlier this week that the East Lansing Police Department is currently accepting applications for their 2019 Citizens’ Police Academy. Here's a description of the what the Citizens' Police Academy is all about:
The 11-week course is designed to give citizens a working knowledge of the police department, while also assisting ELPD in becoming more aware of the issues and concerns of the community. Featuring classroom and hands-on instruction, the course will cover a variety of topics, including: Use of Force, patrol procedures, criminal investigations, Neighborhood Watch, disaster preparedness, a K9 Unit demonstration and more.
The Citizens’ Police Academy is free and open to all who are eligible. However, the class size is limited to only 15-20 people. The academy will meet from 6-8 p.m. every Tuesday from September 24th thru December 3rd at the ELPD Emergency Operations Center located at 409 Park Lane. Click here to find out more and to apply.
