COVID-19 Vaccines Expiring Soon In Michigan

We all have heard so many reasons why folks have gotten the COVID19 vaccine, and from people who are convinced it is not safe enough to get yet.  Many still have their doubts. I did get both of mine and personally, I am glad I did.

I respect everyone's decision and that they should do what is right for them. My nurse daughter told me millions of doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given in the U.S from December 14, 2020, through July 12, 2021.  I believe her and many of my friends that are in the medical profession that it is safe.

Many Vaccines Expiring In The Next Few Months

Seems every day there is more info coming out that we all need to be aware of. I am always concerned and hungry for info on all going on COVID19 in our state. At the start of this year demand for COVID-19 vaccines was way higher than the supply, according to fox47news.com. Here in Michigan more than 260,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are set to expire in the next month or so.

Here is the deal, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says Pfizer vaccines will start to expire in September and Moderna shots the next month.

It’s sad, you know as a public health person we know that the vaccine saves lives and the fact that we have so much vaccine available but the rate at which people are getting newly vaccinated or completing their vaccine schedule is so slow is really disappointing,” said Debra Furr-Holden, associate dean for public health integration at Michigan State University.

 

Now May Be a Good Time

So, if you did not get yours, and are still on the fence debating on whether you should. now may be a good time.  I was lucky and had no side effects and like the peace of mind that I most likely will not get Covid19.  Do your homework though, and do what's right for you.  Stay safe.
