Will the Common Ground Festival in Lansing Happen This Year?
I know we have been disappointed about all the concerts and festivals canceled the last year. Not only are all the artists missing being on the road preforming for us, but all the folks they employ have not been able to make a living. Roadies, mangers, booking agents and so many behind the scenes jobs have been affected. That of course will hopefully start to change as we head into spring and summer.
Here is some good news on the pandemic from fox47news.com. COVID-19 cases are currently down 85% from the mid November peak in Michigan. Also overall, 3.5% of tests are coming back positive and the number has been declining for weeks.
We are seeing signs that concerts and festivals are on the way back, but the Common Ground Music Festival that was canceled last summer due to COVID-19 is still up in the air on whether it is going to happen. The big question is will it be canceled for a second time, along with our other summer events?
Jenna Meyer the marketing director for the Common Ground Musical Festival, says that, while it is hard to predict the future, she's hoping for the best. This from fox47news.com.
"I don’t have a crystal ball," Meyer laughed, “but, you know, right now we are moving forward with the July event. We are probably going to have the festival look a little different than in the past. There will be some safety regulations that will need to be put in place.”
It is suppose to happen, and it will be at Jackson Field if it does It usually draws 7 to 9 thousand people. Blink-182 has already confirmed. Tickets are on sale and everything has a 100 percent COVID refund guarantee.
Hopefully we will be back in the audience this summer for some great entertainment, concerts, and fun.
