What’s Going on With Flap Jack Shack in Lansing? I Stopped by to Find Out
So much has changed about the Lansing restaurant scene lately that it got me wondering about Flap Jack Shack.
What Happened During the Flap Jack Shack Fire in April?
If you recall, back in mid-April this year, Flap Jack Shack experienced a fire. The fire began in the early hours of Monday, April 20. Staff were just arriving for the start of their shifts when they discovered the fire in the kitchen.
While the fire spread quickly, damaging Flap Jack Shack and the adjoining Jersey Giant, firefighters were able to contain it quickly. Unfortunately, that wasn't before some serious damage was done to both businesses.
Jersey Giant didn't suffer near as much damage as Flap Jack Shack and has since been able to re-open. But what about Flap Jack Shack?
What's Happening With Flap Jack Shack in Lansing Now?
I stopped by Flap Jack Shack on October 15 to see if there were any signs with updates about when it might reopen, and boy, did I get an eye full...

It would appear that Flap Jack and its staff have a bone to pick with their insurer, Auto-Owners.

Why Flap Jack Shack's Windows Are Drawing Attention
The windows and doors facing the parking lot are covered with different phrases that all seem to say the same thing: The employees want to return to work, but they say they can't because the insurance money needed to repair the building hasn't come through.

At the end of the day, I hope that Flap Jack Shack gets the help it needs so that its employees can get back to work and we don't have to say goodbye to another Lansing restaurant.
