According to National Geographic, scientists have come up with a special mix of concrete containing material that conducts electricity. Surfaces have been heated with electrically heated coils and rods, but the heating is uneven. This new mix of concrete will heat evenly. The FAA is interested in using it for airport tarmacs, which are notoriously difficult to clear with all the typical equipment in place.

And while this technology has been around for twenty years, it's only now being field tested.

So, someday you'll just hit the switch to melt the snow on your driveway. And go back to your nap on the couch.
